News from Colors of Sepsis

Dear and dear friends of pediatric intensive care medicine,

At the end of January next year, the 23rd Symposium "Current Affairs in Pediatric Intensive Care" will take place again on January 29 - January 30, 2026 at the Clarion Hotel in Ostrava as part of the 28th Colors of Sepsis 2026.

As usual, you can participate in the program in person or online, and after the end, a complete recording of the entire symposium will be available again.

So what can you look forward to?

In the beginning, we have prepared workshops for you that are focused on the practical implementation of various types of elimination methods for various diagnoses from newborns to older children. We have also prepared workshops for you on performing ultrasound - POCUS focused on examining the heart and CNS in children.

The morning of the first day will be dedicated to pediatric sepsis, and some fundamental studies in pediatric intensive care will be mentioned, which we should not miss because they can change our practice. After lunch, we will address the issue of monitoring and targeted therapy of coagulopathy both in the operating room and in intensive care in children. In the following, we will recall the important role of ultrasound in critically ill children in a block called "Beyond the surface: what you do not know can hurt you." At the end of the first day, we will discuss the need for monitoring sedation in children and experiences with the use of inhalation sedation in children in the Czech Republic.

The second day will be dedicated to new developments in the ERC and Czech Resuscitation Council recommendations in 2025. In the second and final block of the second day, which is dedicated to various topics, I would like to mention in particular the possibilities of rapid whole-genome sequencing in critically ill children and its fundamental importance for further treatment and prognosis in critically ill children.
