Invitation to the 22nd Symposium "Pediatric intensive care up to date"
16. 12. 2024
Dear colleagues, friends of pediatric intensive care medicine,
with the end of the year, the traditional meeting of supporters of intensive medicine is approaching again - Colors of Sepsis (COS) in Ostrava, which will take place in the last week of January 2025. It will also be part of the program XXII. Symposium "Pediatric intensive care up to date", which brings you up-to-date information and inspiration. Next year, the children's part will take place on Thursday, January 30 and Friday, January 1, 31, that is, the last two days in the COS program. We have been considering it for a long time and we think that this change will perhaps contribute to the overall improvement of both the entire congress and its children's part.
The symposium will take place in a hybrid format, allowing everyone to participate either in person or via an online connection. The speakers are traditionally from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but next year also from Italy, Great Britain, Austria and the USA.
Complete program XXII. Symposium "Pediatric intensive care up to date" is now available on the site https://coloursofsepsis.cz/program/aktuality-v-detske-intenzivni-peci/
What topics can you look forward to in the children's part of the COS program?
- Artificial intelligence, "deep learning" and evidence obtained from objective data from a Czech and foreign perspective
- The main topic of the first day will again be sepsis in children, which has two parts:
- In the first part, it will be a presentation and circumstances of the creation of a new definition of childhood sepsis directly by one of their authors
- In the second part, we will introduce this new definition in Czech. We will talk about viral sepsis, we will look at new possibilities in the diagnosis and treatment of not only pediatric sepsis
- In the afternoon, a block will be devoted to the current view of extracorporeal elimination methods from the point of view of pediatric intensive care (PICU) from a European perspective
- History and overview of current elimination methods in the PICU
- Current use of these methods in the PICU
- Use of plasmapheresis in the PICU
- The topic of acute liver failure in children and its management incl. use of elimination methods
- Another topic is the updated consensus recommendation for the treatment of life-threatening bleeding in children
- The last block of the first day will be devoted to various topics of pediatric intensive care, from perioperative care in children outside specialized centers, through innovations in the introduction of vascular access, multisystem inflammatory disease in the newborn (MIS-N)
- The second day will then be dedicated to new developments in the treatment of children's sepsis with antibiotics
- The conclusion of the second day is devoted to the challenges of diagnosis and treatment of sepsis in pediatric hematology and oncology
We hope that you will enjoy the program and that everyone will find something for themselves in this very varied palette of topics, whether in person or online.
