History of Colors - 22nd year

Colors of Sepsis 2020

The last week of January already belonged to the twenty-second Congress of Colors of Sepsis. The event, originally small in scope, has become over the years the most important meeting of intensivists, anesthesiologists and mid-level medical staff in our field. In my opinion, there are two reasons. First, the personality of Roman Kula. I don't know how this guy does it, but he always manages to put together a great professional program that graduates every year and gets better and better. For each year, he manages to find world-class speakers - Vincent, Singer, Teboul, Annane and many others, to mention just the last three years. As far as I know, none of the invited speakers refused him participation. And that says something.

The second reason is the deadline. What was originally a crazy idea - who would go to Ostrava (?) in January - turned out to be a brilliant idea. It's the first big meeting of the new year, people have time off, companies have budgets, and they don't travel much on vacation either. Although with the current transport connection, the journey to Ostrava cannot be compared to the earlier adventure and the uncertainty of whether I would eventually reach Ostrava by car. Mr. and Mrs. Salomon also take care of good organization to a great extent. Even much larger agencies could take an example from them.

At the same time, it is probably the only congress that has three social evenings, and they are really worth it. There is no point in praising Colors of Sepsis, everyone who attends it can see it. In terms of content and organization, it is fully comparable to similar congresses of ESICM, ISICEM, DIVI and other companies. In addition, unlike them, it offers lectures almost immediately (!) after its end, not only in pdf format, but also in the form of a video on the Internet. This is an absolutely great thing, because physically it is simply impossible to make it to all the interesting lectures. Even though the Clarion Hotel is fine, I feel like it's already bursting at the seams. The question is whether there would be a bigger venue in Ostrava? There would certainly be interest from listeners.

Roman, stick with Colors, you're good at it, you're really great at it. I wish you and us many more successful years.

Colors of Sepsis 2020

Dear organizers, dear Roman. It is a great honor for me that, as many times before, I could be an active part of this wonderful event this year as well. It is remarkable that "sepsis" can keep getting better and better. When I look back at the individual parts of the mosaic of the congress, only one thing comes to mind: impressive!!! And of course I'm already looking forward to next year!!!
