Colors of Sepsis 2019

From January 28 to February 1, 1.2.2019, the 21st edition of Colors of Sepsis took place in Ostrava, traditionally in the pleasant surroundings of the Clarion Hotel. At the outset, I would like to say that with the presence of good lecturers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and top world experts from the ranks of intensivists, the level of this congress increases every year - it has never stagnated. It's like in human life, as long as we have a set goal and chosen the right course and direction, the goal is within reach, we keep getting closer to it. Then our life has the true meaning. As every year, this year as well, this event addresses intensivists and anesthesiologists with new knowledge, because it is a high-quality, highly educationaland therefore useful in our daily work. It gives us new stimuli for thinking and for further study, which ultimately leads to an improved view of the patient and the team and to better quality care.

Introductory lecture "What Sepsis Taught Me" dedicated to the late Professor Roger Bone, delivered by Assoc. MD Roman Záhorec CSc combined an excellent professional level with deep humanity, without which real intensive medical care cannot be implemented. The ideas and spirit of this lecture, if one paid attention, were actually in every presentation and discussion during the entire congress. Thanks to the high professional and organizational level, this congress has long been called the "Brussels of Ostrava" among us. Intensivists from the Czech Republic and Slovakia repeatedly meet at this event, we look forward to joint meetings with inherent side debates, also associated with social gatherings. I think we can safely say that thanks to this congress, we Czech and Slovak intensivists are still the Czechoslovak Republic.

Many thanks to MUDr. Many thanks to Roman Kula CSc and his team, as well as to the Salomonov couple from Sanopharm CZ for such a great, multidisciplinary, sepsis-focused event organized annually. I wish you, Roman, that your health and vigor will continue to serve you for a long time, so that we can meet like this for a year and for years to come.
