Colors of Sepsis 2018

On 20 Jan. until February 2, 2018, the events of the 20th anniversary of the Ostrava "Colours of Sepsis" took place. The number of participants increased during the 20 years of the existence of this international symposium to 1629, and of this respectable number, there were more than 200 participants from other EU countries than the Czech Republic. As the previous years were proud of the participation of only a few hundred locals and now their number exceeds 1 thousand, it cannot be said otherwise than to state that this event appeals to anesthesiologists and intensivists very significantly, and therefore it is of high quality, beneficial, educational and very beneficial. It takes place in the very pleasant environment of the Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava with an excellent work team and excellent management. In such an environment, the organizational work of the creators of the "Colours of Sepsis" program is facilitated and leads to an excellent professional, educational and scientific result. The main themes of the 2018 "Colours of Sepsis" were: "Severe sepsis", "5. Postgraduate course for nurses in intensive care", 15th Symposium "Current Affairs in Pediatric Intensive Care", which shows a pragmatic selection of topics with broad boundaries of possible partial problems that can be discussed. The rich participation of manufacturers of diagnostic, monitoring and support technology diversify the event and give professional participants a sense of security from the significant support of industrial production, helping and facilitating their professional efforts. It is only self-evident that such an event is highly filled with the postgraduate level of diagnostics, intensive treatment and support of vital functions, which is also expressed in the main designations of individual lecture and poster blocks: "Postgraduate lectures", "Pro-Con discussion", "Meetings with experts ", "Teaching sessions", "Panel discussions", "Poster sessions", "Corporate symposia", "Workshops" and blocks of lectures with the titles "Fundamentals of Intensive Care Medicine", "Fundamentals of Nutritional Support in Critically Ill Patients" and "Fundamentals of Clinical microbiology for intensivists'. Lecture: "Myths and misconceptions in care of critically ill patients" prof. M. Singera (London, UK), shockingly taught us about myths, misconceptions and prejudices in intensive care medicine and the incorrect application of "guidelines" - instructions in urgent situations and under time stress. Organizational and technical support for the congress was provided by fa SANOPHARM CZ, which is traditionally a guarantor of high quality. Social programs and typically excellent Czech gastronomy diversify your stay in Ostrava. Thanks to godfather MUDr. Kulov, CSc. and the entire organizational group of the 20th edition of the Ostrava "Colours of Sepsis" can be dismissed and look forward to the 21st edition.

COLORS of SEPSIS

Dear colleagues, how to characterize the annual, already 20th Congress of Colors of sepsis differently than it was traditionally held. Those "traditional" attributes are a high professional level, an extremely broad thematic scope and a fundamental emphasis on practical outputs. The nature of the professional presentations, from "state of the art" lectures to discussions on specific procedures, is the reason for the high participation, and it is no surprise that 18 foreign experts also accepted the invitation to give lectures this year. The diversity of sepsis is underlined by the participation of colleagues from different fields, clinicians and colleagues from laboratories, so the very broad and factual discussions are an enrichment and a lesson for each of us. When perceiving the atmosphere of the Ostrava convention - in addition to the high professional level - the human factor cannot be overlooked. Our friend and congress president - MUDr. Roman Kula, CSc. with your team. His extraordinary commitment bears fruit - more of us come every year and it is an honor for me personally to be able to actively participate in such a prestigious event. In addition to my sincere thanks, I wish Roman a lot of energy in the coming years.

5. PG course of nurses in intensive care,

which was part of the jubilee XX. The Colors of Sepsis postgraduate course in Ostrava this year was held in the spirit of treatment and diagnostic procedures for patients with sepsis. I positively assess the broad participation of experts in intensive care from the Czech Republic and abroad, despite the fact that continuous education of health workers is not a priority of the Czech government. I am glad that despite this, this event has maintained its high popularity and the contributions presented only confirmed the high erudition of nurses working in anesthesiology and intensive care.

Colors of Sepsis

Due to my function, I start a relatively large number of professional events, seminars, conferences. I always appreciate this honor very much and I am glad that I can be for a while among important personalities of the relevant expertise, partial experts from practice and enthusiasts who sacrifice not only their free time for the organization of these events. However, I must say that the events organized by the team of PhDr. I am most looking forward to Renáta Zoubková. For me, completely professionally performed work is always a guarantee, both during the organization and during the actual implementation. In each partial contribution, he brings new knowledge, shows the necessary need for cooperation between individual professions without the importance of building a hierarchy between them, space for discussion and, above all, mutual respect and a friendly environment. We also try to incorporate all of this into the education of our students of healthcare and medical professions, and I am very proud that many of these experts are our colleagues at the Faculty of Medicine of the OU.
