History of Colors of Sepsis - 11th year

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

I had the great honor to write a few words about the progress of this year's 11th PG Sepsis and MODS course, which took place on January 20-23, 2009 in Ostrava. I could express my feelings very simply and briefly with a few words like "excellent", "practical" and "beneficial". However, please allow me to expand my view somewhat. I am convinced that this year's event has once again fulfilled its goal, which is to bring colleagues from different medical specialties to one place and at the same time, but which are united by the topic of sepsis and MODS. I consider the most valuable at this professional conference to be precisely the interdisciplinary approach to the mentioned topic and the horizontal and vertical integration of relevant knowledge, i.e., in my opinion, a procedure absolutely necessary for contemporary medicine. A high-quality program, a rich and open discussion on the presented messages, mutual friendly contacts and also the opportunity to chat in peace were, are and will certainly continue to be the basic parameters of our joint professional course. I am very pleased that the PG course on sepsis and MODS has become a recognized professional event and I strongly believe that it will continue to retain the favor of all the colleagues that unite the mentioned topic and I will look forward to meeting on the occasion of the next year in 2010.

Prof. MD Milan Kolář, Ph.D.

Dear colleagues,

from my point of view, the first postgraduate course in Ostrava in 2000, in which I passively participated together with my colleagues from the clinic, at the so-called hospital seminar at the FNsP Ostrava in "cramped conditions", but with a fantastic atmosphere, organized by friends from ARK, among whom were also enthusiastic workers in children's issues. The course left a deep impression on us. Already after the first year, positive reports about the professional quality and friendly discussion spread very quickly, not only during the presentation, but also in informal debates outside the hospital facility. We completed the following courses at the Banska University Institute and later at the Atom hotel, which has become a tradition of the Sepsis and MODS Postgraduate Course. Since 2003, the program of the postgraduate course has been enriched with a one-day mini-symposium, which replicates the professional issue from the child's point of view and which we regularly participate in. The organizers allow presentations from top foreign authors from all over the world, as well as requests from "foreign" Slovak authors, and to top it all off, they also allow presentations (case studies) in the form of posters, which we participated in repeatedly and were awarded the highest prize in three years in a row . And what do we enjoy the most? From friends and from the "family atmosphere" of late-night discussions. Finally, on behalf of my colleagues, I would like to wish the organizers an "ocean" of enthusiasm, a "sea" of new ideas and professional solutions, a "lake" of desire and desire to share experiences, but also a "river with tributaries" of new collaborators, so that the Ostrava The PG course Sepsis and MODS became a "well" of expertise, broad education and cooperation. So, dear colleagues, we will meet in a year at the congress in "little Brussels-in Ostrava".
