28. Colors of Sepsis 2026
Dear colleagues,
The 28th year of Colours of sepsis is behind us and it has been confirmed once again that this event, with its thematic scope, number of participants and involvement of a wide range of medical fields united by the issue of intensive care, is unparalleled in our Central European region. When I think back to its modest beginnings almost three decades ago, it is incredible how far it has come over the years. One can only admire the enthusiasm of Roman Kula and his team, who, with the support of Sanopharm, have brought this event to its current level. I must also mention the significant role of Colours of sepsis in supporting the education of non-medical professions or young intensivists and its truly international dimension. Personally, I appreciate the fact that, in addition to the regular update of our knowledge in the field of intensive care in the form of frontal communications, a significant amount of space is also devoted to workshops and the possibility of more intimate meetings in formats that support discussion of current medical topics. I wish the organizers a lot of strength and enthusiasm in preparing the next year of Colors of sepsis, we are all already looking forward to it!

Colors of Sepsis 2026
In Slovakia, we know that when the end of January approaches and the weather is sure to be the worst, it's time to go to Ostrava. This time for the 28th Colors of Sepsis congress. I have a colleague who has participated in all previous years, but due to my age, I missed some of the first post-graduate courses. But since the former prime minister MUDr. He took Yaghi to this great European congress for the first time, and I won't miss another year either.
So it was this year as well, we set out with our colleagues for new knowledge and meetings with curiosity, what Roman will surprise this year. You can always count on that. No matter how you follow world news in the field of intensive care medicine, with 100% certainty Roman will surprise us and be the first to show us what we will be living professionally in the coming years. It's fascinating to me how much feeling Roman has in this and he's done it again. This year was outstanding with the number of foreign lecturers, I also enjoyed the interdisciplinary blocks, when we remind ourselves that without other expertise we would not be able to treat our patients so successfully. The main problem of this congress is traditionally that you cannot decide which section to visit at a given time. Fortunately, a video archive is available, and I now know which lectures and speakers I need to watch in the nearest quieter services.
And lest I forget, in addition to the great professional program, the social part, whether official or unofficial, is also a great benefit. You will surely meet many great experts here as well as humanly close souls.
Roman, we thank you and your entire team, once again a great event and we are already looking forward to the 29th edition of Colors of Sepsis.

Thanks
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the largest intensive care congress with international participation. This opportunity is of extraordinary importance to us.
Many of us spent long professional years directly in intensive care beds. Intensive care medicine was our daily reality - its rhythm, dynamics, real-time decision-making and strong teamwork. It was an environment we loved and that shaped us.
Gradually, however, many of us naturally moved into the field of follow-up intensive care. Care that is not a step aside or a retreat from intensive care medicine, but its logical continuation. Care that continues what intensivists started and carries their work forward - perhaps with a different dynamic, but with the same responsibility, expertise and goal: to bring a person back to life.
We appreciate all the more that we were able to be part of this congress and bring the voice of intensive care aftercare. To show how intensivists' care continues beyond the gates of the ARO, ICU, to provide feedback, share experiences and make it clear that we are not giving up. That we continue to develop professionally, educate ourselves and push the boundaries in this area, because the dynamics and quality of intensive care aftercare are just as important as the acute phase of treatment.
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to present what intensive care really looks like today – and what we want it to look like tomorrow. To continue to grow, to strengthen, and to allow us to give more to our patients. To see more of them leave self-sufficient, dignified, and hopeful. So that we can say that what we do has meaning.
As “former intensivists,” we know how crucial multidisciplinary collaboration is. And it is all the more important for us to emphasize that this collaboration is also crucial in subsequent intensive care – perhaps even more so than anywhere else.
Thank you for the trust, for the space and for the opportunity to be heard.
A big thank you to everyone who makes follow-up intensive care a full and respected part of intensive care medicine.

If it is January, then head to Ostrava! But what does Ostrava and one of the largest and most valuable conferences – Colors of Sepsis, initiated by Roman Kula – mean to me?
For me, Ostrava means peace, tranquility, new experiences and impulses, the excitement of presentations, relaxation, and constant attention and learning. Not to mention the great atmosphere of social events and gatherings, if you know what I mean. An exciting world full of colors!
Wrapped in a thick coat, with a hat on my head and a suitcase in my hand, despite the frosty and foggy, January cold, I always arrive at the train station in Budapest in a cheerful mood and good spirits. A long journey awaits me, but I know that I will receive a warm welcome, I will meet good friends from all across Central and Eastern Europe again to share experiences from the recent and distant past, to exchange ideas, learn from each other and relax a little at the end of meaningful and tiring days. But before I arrive, I still need to finalize my presentation, as it is a great honor to present in the SepsEast Lecturers' Session at this famous conference.
Ostrava-Svinov... How time has flown by... the taxi driver is already waiting at the station. Let's go to the Clarion Hotel! After a quick refreshment, a light dinner. I am always amazed by the kindness, cheerful attitude of Roman Kula and Petr Salomon and of course the professionalism of the entire Sanopharm team. There is no question that all this is necessary, as only this fantastic team can organize and conduct such a high-quality event. But now it's time to sleep, because tomorrow I have to stand on the podium and give my presentation...
It's exciting because I have to be among real experts and opinion leaders. Then I realized that I am really among friends here. From there, the excitement subsides and a joyful, valuable and useful journey into the world of science begins. Events are in full swing, and at the end of numerous international sessions and presentations, the evening gala dinner arrives, recharged and almost full, and then I realize again: a good Ostrava beer can still fit in!
Wrapped in a thick coat, with a hat on my head and a suitcase in my hand, despite the frosty and foggy, January cold, I am standing at the train station in Ostrava heading towards Budapest. A really long journey awaits me and I think I need some rest... I am extremely grateful to have been a part of this trip for the third time this year, and I hope I didn't disappoint and I can come back again next year! Thank you for everything!

Dear Renata,
I hope you are doing well.
I just wanted to thank you once again for your kind invitation to the Colors of Sepsis Congress. It was truly a pleasure for us to participate. We really enjoyed our stay in Ostrava and appreciated the warm welcome from you and the entire team.
The congress was excellent, very well organized, with inspiring lectures, engaging workshops, and particularly impressive simulation sessions. It was a great opportunity to learn, share experiences, and meet so many dedicated professionals. We really enjoyed our stay in Ostrava. The city was very welcoming and we felt very well received throughout the whole event.
The Colors of Sepsis Congress was an excellent experience. The organization was outstanding, and the scientific program was very interesting and relevant for professionals working in intensive care. We particularly enjoyed the simulation sessions, which were very dynamic and practical, as well as the workshops and lectures. It was a great opportunity to learn, exchange experiences, and meet colleagues in such a friendly and collaborative environment.
One of the most valuable aspects of the congress is the people. Over the years, colleagues from the congress become friends, and the event becomes a special meeting point where we can reconnect, share experiences, exchange knowledge, and continue learning from each other.
Of course, you are very welcome to share this message on the Colors of Sepsis website if you think it could be useful.
Thank you again for making us feel so welcome. We hope to meet again in the future.
Warm regards,
