OF SEPSIS

Colours of sepsis is a phenomenon of the modern intensive care scene and has grown into the largest congress in the Czech Republic in 27 years. In terms of the quality of lectures, scope and topicality of topics, it can proudly be compared to congresses such as the Euroanesthesia Congress or ISICEM in Brussels. However, it clearly surpasses them in terms of the diversity of the representation of individual disciplines, which not only took this congress as their own, but also brought many new topics and ideas to it.

When people say you are going to "sepsis", everyone knows what they are talking about, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia. The event is attended by many prominent figures in Slovak medicine. Every year, the congress is enriched with their perspective by speakers from other countries and well-known figures from various medical fields. For this reason, well in advance of the congress, waiting lists are created in the departments every year to see who will go to Ostrava this time.

The main topic "critically ill and the course of their groaning" is discussed from the very essence of the disease to subsequent care from the perspective of doctors and non-doctors in the fields of surgery, internal medicine, microbiology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pre-hospital care, intensive and emergency medicine and many other specialties. News is presented in the form of lectures, con-pro discussions, teaching sessions and meetings with experts, practical skills can be acquired or expanded in workshops or simulations. The presentations on medical research, its publication and the overall education of healthcare professionals are stimulating. Young intensivists, intensive care nurses and pediatricians have become an important part of the congress.

Establishing a congress is one thing. Maintaining the quality and cultivating an event of this scale is more than admirable. Those who are behind the annual theme, the organization and viability of this congress deserve admiration and huge thanks. Enabling participants to meet and have fun during evening social events, while taking away lessons and new knowledge is what makes this congress extraordinary and why we love going to it so much. Colors of Sepsis - an event with soul

It is incredible that 27 years have already passed since the creation of this unique congress. When I think of his beginnings, I remember winter trips through Makov, snowdrifts and our first evenings together on Stodolní Street. Even then, it was not only about absorbing new knowledge, but above all about the atmosphere, which absorbed us in friendship, enthusiasm and sharing of experiences. And all this under the leadership of the man who gave life to this idea - Roman.

What the organizers managed to create a Czech-Slovak version of the Brussels Congress is
in my opinion, absolutely rare in the world. They combined an excellent professional level with an almost family-like quality
an environment where we meet as friends and continue our debates exactly where we left off a year ago. It is an exceptional place where professionalism meets humanity, theory meets practice, and the experience of the older generation meets the enthusiasm of the younger.

One of the most powerful moments of this year for me was seeing a son give a lecture alongside his father. They address themselves as "mother" and "son", and I realize what a wonderful symbol the passage of time is unfolding in front of me, the beginning of a new generation. The young doctor, who was still a child at the time of the congress, today stands on the podium next to his father as an equal expert. This is Colors of Sepsis. A place where we meet not only as colleagues, but as a family of intensivists for whom medicine is a mission.

Romano's absolute professionalism combined with deep humanity and humility gives this event its soul. The high quality of the lectures, the wide scope of the program, the unique environment of "colorful Ostrava", the excellent annual cultural program and the precise organization all make this congress exceptional. Being a part of it is not only an honor for me, but also a confirmation that we are all part of something special.

I look forward to the next year and to other meetings that are not only about expertise, but also about humanity.
