Activities during Colors of Sepsis

Postgraduate lecture

A lecture at a high level, presenting the "State of the Art" of the given issue. It should not be limited to the presentation of one's own studies or the lecturer's opinions. The length of the lecture is 15 minutes. After the conclusion, there is a five-minute space for discussion. The discussion is conducted from the chair to the given lecture or to the given block of lectures.

Meeting with experts

It is a discussion between two experts, exchanging opinions with each other and with the audience. A short PC-projection (5-10 min) can be used to present opinions. The emphasis is on discussion. The time frame for the activity "Meeting with experts" is 45 min. The moderator is not present.

Pro-Con debate

Both of the opponents will give a ten-minute presentation to defend their views on the given issue. A general discussion led by the moderator follows. The time slot for the activity "Pro-Con discussion" is 45 min.

Teaching lesson

The lecturer deals with the theoretical and, above all, practical aspects of solving the given problem. The presentation is intended to provoke discussion. For illustrative purposes, it is advisable to use case studies. The time frame for the "Teaching lesson" activity is 45 min. The moderator is not present.

Fundamentals of intensive care medicine

Monothematically focused block of 9 lectures. The lecturers deal in detail with pathophysiology, its clinical application and moderate the discussion. The length of one lecture is 20 min.

Panel discussion

At the beginning, the moderator invites each panelist to present their opinion (2-3 min) on the given issue. This is followed by a general discussion with the participation of the audience. Projection is not used. The duration of the "Panel discussion" activity is 30 min. The subject of the panel discussion can be a postgraduate lecture that precedes the panel discussion. Its length does not exceed 45 minutes.

Poster section

Thematically, the posters are mainly focused on observations, treatment experiences, or interesting case studies from the field of care for patients with severe sepsis. The first author presents the results found at the poster, in the form of a 5-minute commentary with the participation of the expert committee and the audience. Posters are installed throughout the course.
